Domain FAQs
How often will my domain renew?#
Your domain will renew one month prior to the expiration date to avoid losing your registration. No worries, we'll automatically do the heavy lifting and use the card on file to renew the domain for the same period of time as the previous period.
How do I transfer my domain to the iEdit Network#
Domain transferring is easy! To get started, follow this pre-transfer checklist:
- Update your name servers: Changing your name servers while your domain is being transferred may cause the transfer to fail. Be sure that you update your name servers before the transfer begins so that your domain will be working as soon as possible.
- Disable WHOIS Privacy: If WHOIS Privacy is enabled, it will prevent your verification information from being retrieved and prevent your transfer from succeeding.
- Update your WHOIS information: Your WHOIS information may be used to verify your ownership of a domain before the transfer completes. Updating your contact information to ensure that you can access the email addresses on your WHOIS will prevent transfer failure.
- Confirm the domain is 60 days old: ICANN does not allow a domain to be transferred within its first 60 days.
- Unlock your domain: Domain locks prevent unauthorized domain transfers. Be sure to unlock your domain just before transferring it so that it can be transferred successfully.
- Get your EPP code: You will need to get your EPP code/authorization key from your current registrar in order to transfer your domain.
What happens if my domain expires?#
A Redemption Period will occur approximately 30 days after a domain has reached its expiration date. For 30 days after the expiration date the domain will be available for renewal during a grace period. After the 30 day grace period, the domain will enter a hold period known as the Redemption Period for another 30 days. To recover the domain during the Redemption Period the registry requires a $150 USD fee. After the fee is paid there is a 5 day period where the domain is Pending Delete from the registry. The Redemption Period applies to .COM, .NET and .ORG domains. Other TLDs may have different policies concerning expiration and renewal.
